Dates: 25.09.2008-9.10.2008
Organisation and route: booked at BigXtra travel agency through Lidl (www.lidl.de) as
combination travel: few days in the hotel in Hurgada and trip by ship on Nil from Luxor to
Aswan. Additionally booked visit to Abu Simbel.
Opinion on travel agency: Service was fine, boat not the newest but with ambiente. The
guide, acceptable :-) . Hotel (Dana Beach) in Hurgada was very nice but no good snorkling
places by the hotel diectly. Food was fine, drinks so and so, we experienced for the first
time margarita made with gin.
Photo equipment used: Canon EOS 450D with 18-55 and 55-250 IS zooms and Canon
Powershot A720 (with wide angle converter and underwater shell).
Weather: this was perfect time since hottest season was over. Acceptable but in some
places still hot e.g. and the Valley of Kings. Water is not very warm as red see is deep.
Neopren is suggested for longer snorkling sessions.
What to avoid: buying in shops anything at the first offered price. We experienced up to 10
times price drops upon showing limited interest.
Highlights: Travelling by ship on Nil, you experience watching every day life sceenes on the
land from the ship.
